First Impressions

by admin on October 15, 2009

We all know that first impressions are important in both our private and work lives.  It’s also very important for your business to make a good first impression on customers. But many business owners forget to periodically check their company’s first impression. Here are some tips to help you with an image check of your business:

  1. Take a good look at your sign. Does it catch people’s attention? Does it convey stability and quality? Is it clean and in good repair?
  2.  Now look at the exterior of your business – is it neat, clean, and inviting. Does the exterior invite people to come in the door? How about the windows – do they need cleaning? Are any of the window signs faded and in need of replacement?
  3. Inside, neatness counts! How crowded are your window displays? If you have plants, are they healthy? Are brochures and other literature current? Now is the time to replace anything that’s worn or faded. Is the carpet or floor covering clean?
  4. Now take a look at your packaging – your bags, envelopes, stationary, and business cards. Is your logo professional looking and up-to-date?

It’s a good idea to do an image check at least once a year. Remember, you only have 1 chance to make a good First Impression.
